At Clapham Manor Primary School and Nursery, we value the importance of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in providing a secure foundation for future learning and development for your child.  We are passionate in ensuring that each child has a happy and positive start to their school life in which they can build a foundation for a love of learning. We ensure that every child learns and develops well and are kept healthy and safe.

We promote teaching and learning through a child-led curriculum (linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework) to ensure children’s readiness for the next stage of their education. We provide our children with a broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress throughout their school and life.

The Early Years Foundation Stage framework includes the following seven areas:

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Communication and Language
• Physical Development
• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understanding the World
• Expressive Arts and Design

We deliver this curriculum through a combination of focused whole-class learning, small group activities and Busy Learning (children’s free play). We believe that every moment counts in our children’s learning. 

We foster the children’s learning using an engaging, child-friendly, stimulating environment where the children are provided with engaging resources.  Nursery have access to their own outdoor provision where there is varied, fun and challenging opportunities for the children to explore.
