PE provides children with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities that enable them to develop both physical and social skills. Our programmes of work are structured in keeping with the National Curriculum, so all children take part in skill acquisition, gymnastics, dance and team sports such as netball, basketball, hockey and football.
It is also a requirement of the National Curriculum for children to learn to swim. In years 3 – 5, pupils attend lessons once a week for a term at Clapham Manor Pool where they learn to swim for 25 metres and work towards a series of borough-wide achievement levels.
We send representative teams to a variety of school sports events including netball, athletics, hockey, tag rugby and football. Our football team plays in the Lambeth and Southwark Primary Schools Football League. To check on the team’s recent results click here.
PE is an important part of school life and we expect all children to participate. If your child needs to be excused from his/her lesson for medical reasons, please write a note of explanation to the class teacher.
