About Us

Clapham Manor Children’s Centre opened in June 2006 and since then has developed greatly despite many significant funding challenges over the years. In July 2012 we partnered with our neighbouring Heathbrook Children Centre to become a group of centres working collaboratively to support our local community.

Both Children Centres, Clapham Manor childcare and Little Hazels nursery are rated ‘OUTSTANDING’ by OFSTED.  Our reputation for delivering high quality early learning, support and education has enabled us to continue to expand our support for the community. In  October 2013 we took over the management of the Clapham Common One O’clock club with the ambition to revitalise the stay and play services whilst develop sustainable services for the community. This setting now known as The Spinney is home to our Little Hazels’s pre-school, our schools and community ‘Natural Thinkers’ activities and stay and play services. All activities here operate under our aim of 'Inspiring Lifelong Learning Through Natural Thinking’. This site is going to be redeveloped in 2016/17 as a result of a successful funding bid. The site will be rebuilt and become an Early Years Assessment Centre of Excellence supporting the early identification of children with Special Educational Needs or Disability (SEND). This new building will not only enable us to expand our pre-school provision but also expand our community services.

Future services will include:

  • Extended stay and play opportunitiesmud play child
  • Natural thinkers activities
  • Community café
  • Venue hire.

In addition to this in January 2016 we took over the management of Heathbrook Park Family Centre, opposite Heathbrook Children Centre. In partnership with Wandsworth we have expanded our pre-school offer to an additional 24 children. Once all of our settings are open fully we will be providing direct early education opportunities for approx 150, 2-4 year olds.

All of this success is due to our hard working staff and the support of our school governors, advisory board and local families.

A big thank you to you all and we look forward to your continuing support.
